MERLIN

Smart wireless MID sensor systems for IoT applications

MERLIN was launched in early 2021 and is a research project in which steute Meditec and steute Leantec work closely together. The aim of this project is to develop 3D-printed sensors facilitating an individual integration of machines, devices and applications in the Internet of Things (IoT), realised by combining the fields of additive manufacturing (AM) and mechatronic integrated devices (MID).

Project details

  • Start: March 2021
  • End: August 2023
  • steute is an active partner within the project

The MERLIN project investigates and analyses potential new uses for AM-MID applications. The aim is to overcome existing challenges regarding individual sensor requirements, as well as the availability of suitable integrative technologies. Within the project, steute is concentrating on the specific integration of antennas in different application fields and researching their potential practical uses.

Based on the initial results, detailed schemata are being analysed which can provide information about design, production-specific limitations and possible solutions. This content serves as the basis for the viability of specific demonstrators. The approach guarantees a comprehensive understanding of the process and at the same time facilitates the development of a systematic method providing easier access to the technology for other companies, as well as affordable manufacturing.
